  • St. Lawrence, nws, lynn, 13.-The Welland Canal allows ships to be raised or lowered the height of Niagara Falls on thier way from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie.  Four of the five great lakes dump water over the falls and out toward the St. Lawarence River.

  • St. Lawrence, nws, lynn, 31.-George Hickey stands alongside of the grave stone marking family members that had to be moved when the seaway was built.  The cemetery is located in Longsue, Ontario.  Hickey was forced from his home with one days notice when the villiage he lived was flooded out because of the completion of the seaway project.
