Hatch to Release
An endangered Whooping Crane rests just after hatching in an incubator at the International Crane Foundation. The Whooping Crane will be one of nine to be raised by a costumed aviculturist so that there will be no human imprint in the Direct Autumn Release program. The program raises the chicks from hatch until their release in the fall in an reintroduction effort to increase the numbers of the rare Whooping Crane.
